Dehradun, 28 Apr: The Abhinaya Cultural Society, successfully staged the iconic and timeless murder mystery, The Mousetrap, by Agatha Christie, to a packed auditorium and resounding applause on 26 Apr at the DIT University Auditorium. It drew theatre enthusiasts, literature lovers, mystery buffs and students from various schools and colleges alike, reaffirming the Society’s reputation for bringing classic dramas to life with flair and finesse.

Directed with nuance and performed by a passionate cast, the production skillfully captured the suspense, wit, and psychological intrigue that define Christie’s longest-running play. The audience was captivated by the unfolding drama at Monkswell Manor, where every character seemed to hold a secret — and no one could predict the final reveal.

The play was presented by Rinku Singh, President, Abhinaya Cultural Society and directed by Harshit Verma. The cast of the play included Rinku Singh, Col Bhaskar Bharti (Retd), Pratima Bharti, Chhabi Mishra, Harshit Verma, Yash Sharma and Srijan Joshi. Backstage credits go to Sidharth Dangwal, Prakhar Gosain, Manasvi Tomar and Lohitya Singh. Lights were done by TK Agarwal.

The meticulous set design, authentic costumes, and atmospheric lighting transported viewers to post-war England, creating an immersive theatrical experience. The audience’s standing ovation at the curtain call was a testament to the performers’ dedication and the enduring charm of Agatha Christie’s storytelling.
