On this occasion, Anita Sharma explained that autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a neurological condition that impacts communication, behaviour, and social interaction. While admitting that it is a lifelong condition with varying degrees of severity, but insisted that an early diagnosis and intervention can greatly enhance a person’s ability to lead an independent life. She stressed that school teachers would have to play a crucial role in this process.
