Minister Joshi seeks speedy resolution of sewer, drinking water issues in Mussoorie constituency

Dehradun, 21 May: Cabinet Minister Ganesh Joshi held a meeting with officials of the Uttarakhand Jal Sansthan and Peyjal Nigam to address sewerage and drinking water issues in the Mussoorie Assembly constituency, here, today. During the meeting, the Minister gave clear directions that all public interest projects must be completed on a priority basis and within a fixed timeframe. He emphasised that water supply schemes should be developed as long-term and sustainable solutions. He further stated that effective implementation of public welfare schemes is possible only through departmental coordination and mutual cooperation.

Focusing on the sewer and drinking water problems in Ward 12, Kishan Nagar, Minister Joshi instructed the officials to prepare a concrete and long-term plan for resolving these issues at the earliest. He affirmed that providing basic amenities to the general public is the government’s responsibility and no negligence in this regard will be tolerated. The Minister directed the departments concerned to work in coordination and begin the necessary work without delay.

During the meeting, officials informed him that several sewerage projects have been planned across the Mussoorie Assembly area. These include Jakhan, Doon Vihar, and Arya Nagar: Rs 962 lakh; Shakti Colony: Rs 275 lakh; Pathriya Peer and Neelkanth Vihar: Rs 1390 lakh; Ravindrapuri area: Rs 270 lakh.

Minister Joshi ordered that all these projects should be initiated promptly and completed with high quality, so that residents can benefit at the earliest.

Present at the meeting were Councillor Nandini Sharma, Chief Engineer, Peyjal Nigam, Anupam Ratan, Superintending Engineer Misha Sinha, Executive Engineer, Jal Sansthan, Sanjay Singh, along with other officials and local residents.
