Roorkee, 2 Jun: Haridwar Police have arrested Ramzan, a Director of Iqbalpur Sugar Mill, in connection with a Rs 9 crore case involving fraudulent agreements related to the sugar mill’s land. Following his arrest, panic has spread among other employees, while the sugar mill owner and other co-accused remain at large.

The case surfaced on 4 February, when Harsh Sharma, son of Samrat Sharma and a resident of Hallu Majra village under Bhagwanpur police station, filed a complaint at Jhabrera police station. Sharma alleged that the owner and employees of Iqbalpur Sugar Mill committed a fraud of Rs 9 crore by forging agreements for the mill’s land. He also accused them of assault.

Based on his complaint, the police registered a case under relevant sections and immediately began investigating. After extensive efforts, they arrested Ramzan, son of Alladin, a resident of Urdahan village under Ramkola police station in Kushinagar district, Uttar Pradesh. Ramzan, currently residing in Sugar Mill Colony, Iqbalpur, has been identified as a director of the mill. However, the mill owner and other accused individuals are yet to be apprehended.

Sources claimed that the arrest of the mill’s director has sparked considerable unrest among employees of the sugar mill, with many fearing further arrests. Reports suggest that several other individuals involved in the fraudulent activity are also under police scrutiny for their role in preparing the forged land documents.

SP, Rural, Haridwar, Shekhar Chandra Suyal has confirmed that the police received a complaint two months ago regarding the case. He stated that the mill owner and other suspects collectively forged agreements to sell land belonging to Iqbalpur Sugar Mill. The investigation has confirmed the fraud, and authorities are now focusing on apprehending the remaining accused.
