Dehradun, 16 Jan: A 7-year-old boy lost his life in an accident that took place on Jogiwala Ring Road. The boy, named Garvit, was riding with his uncle Yograj Singh on a Bullet motorcycle when the accident happened.
According to reports, the accident occurred on 14 June. Yograj was returning to his home in IT Park, Dehradun, with his nephew. While passing through the Jogiwala Ring Road, their motorcycle slipped due to sand lying on the road. The sand was there because of ongoing construction work, possibly for sewer or other road repairs.
Both uncle and nephew fell on the road. Just then, a Bolero pickup truck, which was being driven at high speed and was overloaded, ran over the child. Garvit died on the spot, and Yograj suffered injuries. His motorcycle was also damaged.
The driver of the Bolero truck fled the scene, leaving the vehicle behind. Yograj Singh has filed a complaint at the Jogiwala police post under Nehru Colony Police Station. Police have started investigating the matter.
