DEHRADUN, 24 Jul: State Panchayati Raj Minister Satpal Maharaj exercised his franchise today at Booth No. 56 located at the Government Primary School, Sediyakhal, in Pokhra block of Chaubattakhal constituency during the first phase of the Panchayat elections.
After casting his vote in the morning, Maharaj called upon rural voters to participate enthusiastically in the Panchayat elections to strengthen democracy by creating a “Government of the Village”.
Maharaj stated, “The strength of democracy lies in our villages. For the holistic development of rural areas, it is crucial that voters elect honest and dedicated representatives who will work tirelessly for their communities.”
He reminded that, except for Haridwar district, Panchayat elections are being held in two phases across 12 districts of the state. While the first phase of polling was completed on 24 July, the second phase will be conducted on 28 July.
