DEHRADUN, 30 Aug: To find solutions to real-world challenges in the maritime industry, students at Graphic Era showcased their technical skills in a 24-hour nonstop competition named Hackathon (Marathon).
This Hackathon was organized on Saturday at the CSIT Block of Graphic Era Deemed University. The objective of this 24-hour event was to bring a digital revolution to the maritime industry through innovative technological solutions. Chief Guest Captain Bharat Sabarwal, CEO of Transworld Group, said that the maritime industry on Saturday is more complex and dynamic than ever before, and navigating it requires technological innovation and the role of AI as indispensable.
On this occasion, Pro Vice Chancellor Santosh S. Sarraf of Graphic Era Deemed University said that organizing hackathons encourages students to actively participate in startup culture and innovation, which is a priority for the university. He added that through its incubation center, Graphic Era provides students with practical experience, guidance, and resources, enabling them to transform their ideas into solutions for real-world problems and launch startups.
More than 30 teams and over 100 students are participating in the Hackathon. During the 24-hour contest, participants are tasked with creating solutions for real maritime industry challenges such as port operations, automation of charter party documents, accurate weather forecasting, and AI-based virtual assistants.
The Hackathon was jointly organized by the Technology Business Incubator (TBI) of Graphic Era Deemed University and the Integrated Maritime Exchange (IME). On this occasion, Head of Department Dr Devesh Pratap Singh (Computer Science and Engineering), Incubator Manager Harsh Vardhan Singh Rawat (TBI Graphic Era), Chief Executive Officer Kunal Narayan Uniyal (IME), Vikas Gadu, along with other faculty members and students, were present.
