Knowledge of Online Transactions for Safe Investment is Essential: Prof Surekha Dangwal

One-day Workshop held on Digital Security and Investment Literacy

Dehradun, 19 Sep: Under the aegis of the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of Doon University, a one-day workshop on “Online Transaction Security and Investment Planning” was organised, here, today. The objective of the workshop was to provide participants with detailed knowledge of digital transaction security, cyber safety measures, and safe investment practices.

The programme was inaugurated by the Vice-Chancellor of the University, Prof Surekha Dangwal. In her address, she emphasised that, in today’s digital age, online transactions have become an integral part of life, and therefore, their security and prudent investment planning are essential for every citizen. She further stated that the responsibility of the university is not limited to imparting academic knowledge but also includes creating awareness in society on contemporary and practical issues.

Prof Dangwal particularly urged the participants to adopt the knowledge gained from the workshop on digital security and investment in their personal lives and to share it with their families and colleagues.

University Registrar Durgesh Dimri said that such workshops not only provide knowledge to teachers and staff but also equip them with practical skills. He urged the participants to apply the suggestions and techniques learned in the workshop in their academic and professional lives, making their personal and professional experiences more secure and impactful.

On this occasion, HDFC Branch Manager Vimal Bhandari, along with Naveen Tiwari, Rohit Sharma, and Varun, delivered an impactful presentation on various HDFC schemes. They provided detailed information on savings accounts, loan facilities, housing loans, vehicle loans, insurance schemes, and mutual funds. They also explained online transaction security, measures to prevent fraud, and the importance of exercising caution in technical aspects. They highlighted that by following simple precautions, individuals can keep their digital transactions secure and plan for a better financial future.

Prof HC Purohit, Convener of IQAC, remarked that such workshops provide timely knowledge to teachers and staff, benefiting them both personally and professionally. Expressing gratitude to the HDFC experts, he said that such initiatives play a vital role in enhancing financial literacy, and the university will continue to organize such programs in the future.

The workshop was attended in large numbers by faculty and staff from various departments, including Prof RP Mamgain, Dean of the School of Social Sciences, Dr Harsh Dobhal, Dr Himani Sharma, Dr Charu Dwivedi, Dr Asha Ram Gairola, Dr Sarita, Dr Komal, Rohit Joshi, Dr Ankit Nagar, Dr Shivani, Dr Khushboo Singh, Shilpi Tiwari, Madhav Nand Chamoli, Sandeep Rawat, and Himanshu.
