Natya Utsav held by Sparsh Himalayan University

Dehradun, 29 Dec: A Natya Utsav was organised under the joint auspices of Sanskaar Bharti, Dehradun, Pancham Ved Creations Charitable Trust, and Sparsh Himalayan University. The event featured theatrical performances based on the Bhayanak Ras and the memories of India’s revolutionaries, presented by trained theatre experts from Bharatendu Natya Academy at the Shankara Varnam Auditorium, Thakurpur, Premnagar, here.

The Natya Utsav was inaugurated by MLA Savita Kapoor as the Chief Guest, and the programme was conducted by Anurag Verma, Head of the Theatre Department at Sparsh Himalayan University. The event began with the lighting of the lamp and patriotic songs sung by Gopal Pandey and Neeraj Kushwaha from Bharatendu Natya Academy.

Theatrical Performance: “Bhoot Aur Azad: Kranti Ka Aagaz”

The play revolves around the friendship between Bhagwan Das Mahaur and Chandra Shekhar Azad, highlighting how Azad used symbolic acts and disguise to spread revolutionary ideas. The play depicts how Azad, inspired by a prank of hostel students pretending to be ghosts, realised the power of theatre and symbolism in igniting the spirit of resistance against British rule.

Theatrical Performance: “Bhay”

The play is set in a train journey where passengers are terrorised by rumours of crime and the darkness outside. As fear grips them, they fail to help a fellow passenger in need, only to realise later that their fear was baseless.

Theatrical Performance: “Nai Zindagi”

The play tells the story of a man who overcomes addiction and rebuilds his life with the help of a child and her father, symbolising hope and redemption. Cast & Credits:
