Dhami unveils statue of Buxa King Jagat Dev, hails his legacy of valour

Dehradun/Gadarpur, 2 Jan: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami today virtually unveiled the statue of Buxa tribal king Raja Jagat Dev at Gram Panchayat Roshanpur Dalbaba in the Gadarpur area of Udham Singh Nagar district. Addressing the gathering on the occasion on virtual basis, Dhami described the life of Raja Jagat Dev as an invaluable example of sacrifice, valour, devotion to faith, and the protection of culture. He emphasised that the event is not restricted to merely unveiling a statue but serves as a solemn tribute to the glorious traditions, rich culture, and sacrifices of the Buxa tribe.

Dhami noted that Raja Jagat Dev dedicated his entire life to safeguarding religion and cultural values, even in the most adverse circumstances, portraying his saga as not only one of bravery but also a powerful symbol of self-respect and unwavering faith. He added that members of the Buxa community, settled across regions including Udham Singh Nagar, Nainital and Kotdwar, have continued to preserve their culture, traditions and sense of dignity with pride. The CM reaffirmed the state government’s full commitment to the cultural conservation of tribal communities, the documentation of their history, and the advancement of education, healthcare, housing, and employment opportunities for them.

Dhami further stressed the need for research into the glorious legacy of Raja Jagat Dev so that future generations can draw inspiration from his life and contributions.

On the occasion, Dhami also announced three development initiatives for the region, including the construction of boundary walls, tin sheds, flooring and toilet facilities at the Shri Dalbaba Temple complex in Gram Sabha Roshanpur. He also approved the reconstruction of a 3 k.m. road from village Balramnagar to Khempur, along with a 4 k.m. road from village Sitapur to ANK Inter College.

Among those present in Gadarpur on this occasion were Block Pramukh Jyoti Grover, Nagar Panchayat Chairperson Satish Chugh, Rajya Minister Manjeet Singh Raju, District Magistrate, Udham Singh Nagar, Nitin Bhadouria and SSP Manikant Mishra.
