Pauri, 2 Jan: State Irrigation Minister and Chaubattakhal MLA Satpal Maharaj said today that Syunsi Lake is one of the seven proposed lakes on the Nayar River in Pauri Garhwal district and is a priority project for the government. The Detailed Project Report (DPR) has been prepared and sent to the government.

Maharaj stated that Syunsi Lake is an important project, and its construction will ensure drinking water supply to several nearby villages. The project aims to promote tourism, irrigation, and drinking water availability. Work on Syunsi Lake, along with other lakes such as Satpuli Lake, is progressing, and these projects will play a significant role in the region’s development.

He further said that promoting tourism in Pauri, providing employment to youth, and ensuring irrigation and drinking water facilities for local residents are among the government’s key priorities. Seven lakes designed by IIT Roorkee are being constructed in the district, of which Lwali Lake has been completed and work on Satpuli Lake is underway, while the DPR for Syunsi Lake has already been submitted to the government.

Maharaj emphasised that Syunsi Lake is a major initiative for regional development and will help establish Pauri as a prominent tourist destination in the near future. The construction of these lakes will increase tourist inflow, strengthen the local economy, create new employment opportunities for local residents, and enhance water availability for agriculture and the local population.
