Pantnagar, 12 Dec: Following persistent demands by the students of GB Pant University of Agriculture & Technology, Udham Singh Nagar Police have arrested a doctor in a case of alleged molestation levelled by a student of the university.
The case of alleged molestation of a girl student of the university by a doctor of the hospital inside the Varsity has been continuously gaining momentum. Yesterday, the victim had registered a case with the police in the case, accusing a doctor of molestation.
So far, the University administration has been accused by the students of showing reluctance and laxity in taking action against the accused doctor. When the anger of the students erupted against the university administration, the accused doctor was transferred out of the university and attached to the Krishi Vikas Kendra in Jyolikot. However, this move did not satisfy the students and the protests had continued against the university administration. Dean, Technology, Alaknanda Ashok and other senior university officials did engage with the students. SSP US Nagar, Manjunath was also present on this occasion and later today, when he informed the students that the doctor in question had been arrested from Tanda Barrier, the students called off the strike.
