Kotdwar, 22 Jun: The Speaker of the Uttarakhand Legislative Assembly and MLA from Kotdwar, Ritu Khanduri Bhushan, took serious note of complaints regarding illegal mining activities on the land designated for the Medical College at Kalalghati, Kotdwar, and personally visited the site at 10:40 p.m. on Sunday to assess the situation.
Speaking on the occasion, Bhushan stated that illegal mining of any kind on Medical College land would not be tolerated under any circumstances. She noted that necessary directions had already been issued to the administration on the matter and that her visit was intended to review the implementation of those instructions on the ground.
Expressing satisfaction over the actions taken so far, she said that the directions issued by the District Magistrate of Pauri and the Sub-Divisional Magistrate of Kotdwar were being implemented effectively and rigorously. She added that the administration is maintaining continuous surveillance in the area and that any irregularity or illegal activity detected would be dealt with immediately.
The Assembly Speaker further emphasised that strict action would be taken against any individuals or groups attempting to obstruct the development of Kotdwar. She instructed officials to continue regular inspections and ensure prompt and effective action on any reports of illegal mining.
Concluding her remarks, Bhushan reaffirmed her commitment to safeguarding the security, development, and public interests of Kotdwar. She stated that there would be no compromise when it comes to protecting the interests and welfare of the region.
