Dehradun, 4 Sep: In a detailed review meeting held via video conference, today, Additional Director General of Police (ADG), Crime and Law & Order, V Murugesan, took stock of pending investigations and the security arrangements for the Barawafat festival to be celebrated tomorrow. Senior Superintendents of Police/SPs from all the districts of Uttarakhand participated in the meeting.

During the meeting, Murugesan directed the officers to ensure robust police deployment to maintain communal harmony and law and order during Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi (Barawafat). All the police stations were also instructed to convene Community Liaison Group (CLG) and Peace Committee meetings by the end of the day.

In order to manage anticipated crowd movement, the ADG directed the district police to prepare detailed traffic plans. He also asked the police to ensure that the organisers of religious processions adhere to traditional routes and avoid fireworks on public roads to prevent inconvenience.

Murugesan also held a review of the pending cases for investigation and flagged delays. He emphasised that justice delayed is justice denied. He instructed the district in-charge police officers to personally monitor case progress and ensure timely disposal. He said that special emphasis be also laid on cases under the Gangster Act, for which coordination with District Magistrates must be expedited.

The circle officers (COs) were tasked with reviewing all original investigations, part-pending cases, and reinvestigations, particularly those pending for over two years. Murugesan made it clear that accountability will be fixed, and disciplinary action initiated against officers who are found negligent or lax towards their duty.

Among those who were present at the meeting included Inspector General of Police (IG) (Crime and Law and Order) Nilesh Anand Bharne, Senior Superintendent of Police (STF) Navneet Bhullar, and SSPs/SPs and other senior officials.
