Agri minister for exploring  horticulture in Sarona, Kyara panchayats

DEHRADUN, June 07: Uttarakhand’s Minister of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, Ganesh Joshi, interacted directly with farmers on Saturday under the Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan (developed agriculture resolution campaign) in Simyari village of the district. He listened to the farmers’ concerns and instructed officials to address them promptly.
Joshi participated in a programme organized under the campaign at the Government Inter College, Bhagdwarikhal, in Raipur block. Addressing the gathering, he said, “Prime Minister Narendra Modi truly cares for our food providers, which is evident through the PM-KISAN scheme.” He highlighted that over the past 11 years, more than Rs 3.68 lakh crore in direct financial assistance has been transferred to over 110 million farmers across the country under the scheme.
“This is not just financial aid—it’s a major step towards making farmers self-reliant and ensuring a life of dignity,” he added.
The Minister emphasized that the Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan will only be successful if farmers actively participate in it. He urged them to join the campaign in large numbers.
During the event, he also directed officials to explore the horticultural potential in Sarona and Kyara gram panchayats, especially for apple and kiwi cultivation. He instructed them to conduct on-ground assessments to evaluate the feasibility.
Under the One Tree in Mother’s Name initiative, Minister Joshi also planted a fruit-bearing sapling.
In addition, the Minister inspected the under-construction road being developed under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) and gave strict instructions to complete the work on time while maintaining quality standards.
Present on the occasion were District Panchayat Member Veer Singh Chauhan, Anuj Kaushal, Manjeet Rawat, Village Head Deepak Bhatt, Naresh Nautiyal, Balam Singh, Sundar Singh Payal, Ghanshyam Negi, Amardev Bhatt, Sanjay Kotwal, Dinesh Kumar, Roshan Lal Dabral, Vijayram Nautiyal, Babita Rawat, Additional Director of Agriculture Parmaram, Chief Agriculture Officer Devendra Singh Rana, Agriculture and Soil Conservation Officer Ashok Giri, Abhilasha Bhatt, along with several other officials, public representatives, and a large number of farmers.
