New Delhi witnessed one of the most significant global technology gatherings as it hosted the AI Impact Summit in February 2026 at Bharat Mandapam. The summit brought together world leaders, policymakers, technology pioneers, CEOs, researchers and innovators to discuss the future of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and its impact on society, governance and industry. The presence of global figures such as Narendra Modi, Emmanuel Macron, Sam Altman, Sundar Pichai, and Jensen Huang underscored the importance of the event on the global stage.
Artificial Intelligence, often perceived as a complex technological concept, simply refers to computer systems that can analyse information, learn from data and make decisions in a manner similar to human thinking. From voice assistants and recommendation systems to traffic navigation and customer service chatbots, AI is already integrated into daily life. The summit aimed to demystify this technology and focus on how it can be developed responsibly, ethically and inclusively.
A major theme of the discussions was the need to balance innovation with regulation. Leaders emphasised that while AI has the potential to revolutionise healthcare, education, agriculture, governance, finance and infrastructure, it must be guided by clear policies to ensure privacy protection, data security and job transition planning. The global consensus emerging from the summit was that AI should serve humanity rather than replace it.
India used the platform to highlight its growing capabilities in digital infrastructure and its commitment to building AI solutions tailored to local needs, particularly in regional languages and public services. The summit reflected India’s ambition not merely to adopt global technologies but to become a key contributor to their development. With a strong IT ecosystem, expanding startup culture and government-backed digital initiatives, India is positioning itself as a major player in the AI landscape.
For industries such as hospitality, travel and tourism, AI presents both opportunities and transformation. Smart booking systems, predictive demand forecasting, personalised guest experiences and real-time translation tools are already reshaping service delivery. Automation in backend operations can improve efficiency, while data-driven insights can enhance customer satisfaction. Experts believe that while technology will streamline operations, the human element will remain central, particularly in service-driven sectors.
The Delhi AI Summit ultimately signalled that Artificial Intelligence is no longer a distant concept confined to laboratories or multinational corporations. It is a present reality influencing economic growth, governance models and business strategies worldwide. By hosting this global dialogue, India has demonstrated its readiness to participate actively in shaping the future of intelligent technology in a responsible and inclusive manner.
