Dehradun, 5 Nov: Aasraa Trust welcomed Ono Keiichi, Ambassador of Japan to India, and Kakuta Nanami, Third Secretary (PR & Culture), on 4 November during their visit to Dehradun.

The delegation met officials of Aasraa Trust and learned about the organisation’s ongoing initiatives to provide education and support to children from underserved communities.

The visit also celebrated the association between the Embassy of Japan and Aasraa Trust, particularly through the Government of Japan’s Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGP) scheme.

In December 2022, the Embassy of Japan extended a grant of approximately 6.53 million Japanese Yen to Aasraa Trust for two specially remodelled buses, each serving a distinct educational purpose. The Mobile Learning Centre reaches out to children from underserved communities, providing foundational literacy and basic education. The Mobile Computer Lab visits government schools, bringing computer education and digital learning opportunities to students who have limited access to such facilities. These buses have successfully impacted over 3600 children and continue to benefit underserved children in Dehradun.

Aasraa Trust expressed its sincere gratitude to the Government and Embassy of Japan for their continued support and encouragement. The visit reaffirmed the shared commitment towards making education accessible and creating better opportunities for children from disadvantaged backgrounds.
