Dehradun, 17 Aug: Yet another case of assault on children inside a Madrasa has come to light in Dehradun district of Uttarakhand.  After the registration of the complaint, the police are investigating the incident. The preliminary investigation has reportedly confirmed the assault on children, after which the police registered a case against the madrasa operator in Patel Nagar police station of Dehradun. Dehradun SSP Ajai Singh has confirmed this.

It may be recalled that about 30 children had fallen ill in a madrasa in Dehradun on 8 August, the video of which also surfaced. The Uttarakhand Child Rights Protection Commission has taken cognisance of this video and has directed Dehradun SSP Ajai Singh to investigate.

After this, a joint team was formed under the leadership of Dr Geeta Dawar Khanna, Chairperson of the Child Rights Protection Commission and ISBT Police Outpost In-charge. This team inspected the said madrasa. During the inspection, it has come to light that 250 students study in this madrasa built in a small area. Of the total number of the students, 60 students have been brought from Bihar. At the same time, 55 students live in the hostel.

Apart from this, the police have also taken possession of the footage of CCTV cameras installed in the madrasa. When the police searched the footage of CCTV cameras, it was revealed that on 25 July, at around 2.30 pm, someone pasted tape on one of the cameras. Due to this, nothing was visible there. On suspicion, the police checked the further footage and found that two days later on 27 July, the children were seen lined up in a room and then an unknown person was seen beating them fiercely.

According to the police, it was seen in the CCTV camera that during this time, a child was locked in the room and lying on the floor. When the Chairman of the Child Commission questioned the madrasa operator about this, his response was not found to be satisfactory. On this basis, the police have registered a case against the madrasa operator Raees Ahmed under the Juvenile Justice Act.

Dehradun SSP Ajai Singh said that the Anti Human Trafficking Team has also been included in this case, because the police have also received such complaints that many children have been brought from outside against the wishes of their parents. At present, a case has been registered on the basis of the CCTV footage found by the police from inside the madrasa. The matter is being investigated.
