Arjun House dominates 24thAnnual Inter House Athletics Meet at Asian School

Dehradun, 7 Nov: The 24thAnnual Inter House Athletics Meet of The Asian School, which was declared open on 3 November, drew to a close today amidst the verdant grounds of the Woods. The Chief Guest at the closing ceremony was former Director General of Police (DGP) of Uttarakhand Anil Kumar Raturi.

The Guests of Honour was Vijay Khanna, MD, Krishna Medical Centre. The Inter House Athletics Meet was spread over a period of 5 days. It witnessed enthusiastic participation of the students from the four houses in different track and field events.

Arjun House was the Overall Winner. It also won the Inter House Athletic Trophy for 2023-24. The Best March Past Trophy was bagged by Ranjit House. Jayati Malhotra of Ashoka House was declared the Best Athlete (Girls) and Sashwat Gupta of Ranjeet House was declared the Best Athlete (Boys).

Various track and field events were held in which the students gave a commendable performance. Students from the Middle Wing of the school presented a well synchronised Mass PT Drill and a captivating Yoga display showcasing graceful and serene ‘Surya Namaskar’ poses and promoting physical fitness was presented by the young ones of the Junior Wing. The most awaited event, the Tug of War between Parents and Teachers was won by the Teachers.

The four houses put forth an impressive march past in rhythmic cadence to the melodious tunes of ‘Fanfare’ and ‘Kadam – Kadam Badhaye Ja’ played by the school band led by Head Girl Dishita Pandey.

Anil Kumar Raturi gave away the trophies to the winners and threw light on the importance of sports. He appreciated the efforts put in by the children and their teachers in putting up such a spectacular show. He advised the children to continue to work hard and make sports a part of their lives as it would help them stay disciplined. He inspired the students to inculcate good leadership qualities so that they can contribute to the country’s progress and prosperity. A memento was presented to the Chief Guest by the Vice President Madanjeet Singh. The Meet was declared closed by the Principal. The flag was lowered to the trumpeters’ last post and the same was handed over to the HOD, Sports, Subedar Sanjay Kumar Rana (Retd) by the Principal, Ruchi Pradhan Datta.

The Vote of Thanks was proposed by student Ananya Sedha.

Among those present were school Vice President Madanjeet Singh, Board members Simi Juneja and Harveen Juneja, Director Gaganjyot Juneja and Vartika Sah, special guest Col Sumit Datta, Head, Senior School, Mukesh Nangia, Head Mistress Prachi Mehrotra, Deputy Head, Junior School, Surbhi Narula, and the entire teaching staff and the students of The Asian School.
