Artists converge on Graphic Era for workshop

Dehradun, 20 Mar: Renowned artists of the nation will teach students to paint the canvas with different colours. To enhance creative thinking of students, these artists will be teaching layout planning and use of different colours. A five-day workshop on Painting and Sculpture, ‘Abhivaykti’, began at Graphic Era Hill University here, today, to achieve this purpose.
Inaugurating the workshop, Dr Uttam Pacharney, former President of the National Lalit Kala Akademi, said that art is a medium of expression, a journey of independent thought and gives new direction to life. Creative and innovative work gives a new direction to society.
On this occasion, Prof (Dr) Jyoti Chabbra, Dean, School of Design, threw light on this five day workshop. She said that renowned artists will teach students about colours, space, form, value and proportion so that they may implement it in their art.
Dr SK Sarkar, HOD, renowned artist Dr K Ratan, Dr Mohd Tahir Siddiqui, Dr Ram Shabd Singh, Yogesh Prajapati, Sachin Bonde, Shilpa Pachpor, Subhendu Sarkar, Sapna Kuniyal and a large number of students were present.
The workshop was jointly organised by the Department of Visual arts and State Lalit Kala Academy, Uttar Pradesh.
