Dehradun, 25 Jun: In a significant stride towards decongesting the city’s roads, District Magistrate Savin Bansal’s ambitious automated mechanical parking initiative is set to be unveiled shortly. The district administration has shared that Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami is expected to soon inaugurate the newly constructed facilities.
In the first phase, automated parking systems have been installed at the District Coronation Hospital for staff use, Tibetan Market, and Parade Ground. A technical operator has already been deployed at Coronation Hospital to oversee operations. These modern parking structures, designed to function even in compact and relocatable spaces, promise to ease vehicular pressure and offer convenient parking alternatives to the public.
The addition of the Coronation staff parking has notably increased space for patients and their attendants, with more capacity made available at ground level. This initiative is being lauded as a thoughtful move to tackle urban congestion and is seen as a model for similar future projects across Dehradun.
The Coronation Hospital facility has been formally handed over for use, and staff members, including doctors and nurses, are now benefitting from the automated system. The Parade Ground facility has a capacity to accommodate 96 vehicles, the Tibetan Market one can hold 132, while the Coronation Hospital unit has provision for 18 vehicles.
Officials claim that the district administration, under the leadership of the DM, is actively working towards realisation of the Chief Minister’s vision of a contemporary and well-equipped Uttarakhand. The Tibetan Market and Parade Ground facilities are now fully ready for use and await formal inauguration. Two trained technical personnel have been appointed to manage these installations, and insurance coverage will be provided under the district scheme.
