Bagoli orders immediate restoration of damaged water pipelines

Dehradun, 17 Sep: Secretary, Drinking Water and Sanitation Department, Shailesh Bagoli today conducted an inspection of the damaged water pipelines and headworks at Bijapur, Bindal, Kesarwala, Purkul, and Shahanshahi in Dehradun district with departmental officials and instructed them to ensure restoration of the drinking water supply system at the earliest.

It may be recalled that, due to the disaster that struck yesterday morning, the water supply from these sources has been disrupted in the disaster hit areas, affecting approximately 2.35 lakh people in areas like DL Road, Karanpur, Kalidas Road, New Cantonment Road, Rajpur, Chukkuwala, Lower Raipur, Kiduwala, Purkul village, Saloni village, Jakhan, Vijaynagar, and Dhakpatti.

The Secretary has directed that the water supply from the Bijapur, Bandal, and Kesarwala headworks be temporarily restored by today evening. Departmental officials have claimed that approximately 1.35 lakh people would receive water supply by tomorrow morning, while the work on the remaining sources would be completed by tomorrow evening. Following this, water supply will be ensured for the remaining 1 lakh people by the morning of 19 September. The officials also have reminded that for any drinking water-related complaints, the department’s control room numbers are 18001804100 and the helpline is 1916.
