Dehradun, 4 Nov: State President of the BJP Bansidhar Bhagat today called on Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat and submitted a memorandum urging abolition of development authorities in the state. During his discussion with the CM, Bhagat insisted that the development authorities had not been able to fulfil their given objectives and had not contributed much towards development of the cities where these were functioning.
Bhagat claimed that Chief Minister Trivinder Singh Rawat had assured appropriate action in this regard.
Bhagat disclosed that, recently, he had toured various areas of the state and, during these tours, a major complaint he had come across during his interaction with the BJP workers as well as the general public was regarding the development authorities. The general perception was that these authorities had failed to come up to the expectations of the people, besides not making any special contribution to the development of these places. On the contrary, the public was being harassed by these development authorities. They deliberately made the procedures complicated instead of simplifying them.
Bhagat further complained that complaints of corruption related to these authorities had also been received at several places. He added that, after considering all these issues, he realised there was no justification for the continuation of these development authorities. Therefore, keeping in view the public sentiments, he called on Chief Minister Rawat and submitted a memorandum urging abolition of the development authorities. He sought a more useful system in the greater public interest. He expressed happiness that the Chief Minister heard him out and took note of what he had urged and promised appropriate action.
