Dehradun, 23 May: The BJP has strongly criticised the violent protest in Almora, where Congress leaders allegedly barged into a government office. The party described the incident as an exposure of the undemocratic face of those who claim to uphold the Constitution.

BJP’s State media in-charge Manveer Chauhan stated that this act demonstrated Congress’ disregard for constitutional and democratic values. He accused top Congress leaders of carrying copies of the Constitution while claiming to defend democracy yet resorting to lawlessness. Chauhan condemned the opposition party for obstructing administrative work and creating disorder.

Chauhan further remarked that it was unfortunate that such actions occurred under the leadership of senior Congress figures. Former Chief Minister Harish Rawat, State President Karan Mahara, Leader of Opposition Yashpal Arya, and multiple MLAs were reportedly present during this incident yesterday and were leading the agitation.

The BJP leader asserted that legal action would be taken against this ‘hooliganism’ and ‘anarchic mentality’ displayed by Congress. He added that the public was observing these events and would respond appropriately in the upcoming elections.
