Dehradun, 8 May: The BJP today claimed that it will win in all the civic bodies in the upcoming municipal elections in the state. This claim was made by BJP State President Mahendra Bhatt during an informal chat with the media at the BJP State Headquarters, here, today.

Bhatt stated that the party observers are giving final touches to booth management and the work on candidate selection will begin as soon as the picture on reservation is clear.

In an informal conversation with journalists at the party headquarters, State President Mahendra Bhatt claimed that the FIR registered against the BJP leaders by Congress in Karnataka was politically motivated. He said that he was fully confident that none of the BJP leaders would have made a threatening statement against any Congress leader. The Congress is getting desperate there and making bogus claims. He added that the Election Commission was the highest body to verify the claims during the polls and that he was sure that the Election Commission would do justice in this regard. He said that instead of lodging an FIR in Uttarakhand in a matter related to Karnataka, the Congress ought to have registered a complaint with the Election Commission of India.

Bhatt claimed that BJP is fully prepared for the municipal elections and this time the party will win all the corporations and civic bodies. As far as preparations are concerned, party supervisors are busy finalising booth management in all corporations and bodies. And as soon as the final allotment of reservation is done, the candidate selection process will start.

In response to a question, Bhatt commented that Congress raising objections to the Parliamentary Standing Committee visiting Uttarakhand is devoid of any sound logic and reminded that some Opposition MPs are also members of this committee. The Congress party cannot decide the questionnaire for this committee. The committee members go to the states and review the works and schemes at the ground level on the subject which they find necessary. And the state government is extending full cooperation in this regard.
