Dehradun, 21 Nov: BJP’s Anita Mamgain has become the first Mayor of Rishikesh. She defeated her nearest rival, independent Veena Deep Sharma by a margin of 11,164 votes. Mamgain received 26,403 votes. Congress candidate Lakshmi Sajwan received 12,057 votes and came third. AAP’s Manju Sharma got 317 votes. The NOTA option was taken by 306 voters.
Mamgain’s victory has ended a decade and half of exile for the BJP in Rishikesh.
