Dehradun, 14 Oct: BS Negi Mahila Pravidhik Prashikshan Sansthan organised a special performance of Hindustani classical music by Kashyap Bandhu on 30 September. Dr Prabhakar Kashyap and Dr Diwakar Kashyap, collectively known as Kashyap Bandhu, began their musical journey under the guidance of their parents, Pt Ramprakash Mishra and Meera Mishra. Later, they had the privilege of being trained by the esteemed maestros of the Banaras Gharana, Padma Bhushan awardees Pt Rajan Mishra and Pt Sajan Mishra.
Kashyap Bandhu are known for their powerful and expressive voices, effortlessly navigating all three octaves. They were accompanied by Pt Mithilesh Jha on Tabla and Pt Sumit Mishra on Harmonium.
The students and staff were captivated by the mesmerising performance and engaged in enriching conversations with the artists. The programme commenced with a piece in Raag Vrindavani set to vilambit taal.
Towards the end, a soulful bhajan, an original composition by Pt Rajan Mishra and Pt Sajan Mishra, celebrating the greatness of gurus, was performed. The jugalbandi between the artists was a unique experience.
Principal Namita Mamgain praised the artists for their melodious performance and extended her appreciation to the accompanying musicians on Tabla and Harmonium. She honoured the performers by presenting them handcrafted Pahadi topis, made by the students of the Sansthan. The event was organised by SPIC MACAY.
