Mussoorie, 14 Oct: Member of the Uttarakhand Safai Karamchari Commission, Vinay Pratap Singh was welcomed at the Municipal Council by the officials and sanitation workers, here, today.
He interacted with all the sanitation workers and officials and obtained detailed information about the facilities given to them by the Central and State Governments.
On this occasion, the sanitation workers presented a memorandum of demands regarding various problems that they face. They said that the Municipal Administration is not providing them uniforms on time, as well as the facilities given by the government. It was stated that there has been a huge reduction in posts, which decision they wanted withdrawn. Environment friends working in the local bodies should be given departmental promotion on the basis of their educational qualifications. The sought the acting environment supervisor be made permanent, and the amount of group insurance pending for many years be paid. Repair of the housing of municipal employees should be done. Also, the cleaning work should not be given out on contract.
Member Vinay Pratap Singh said that he is touring the whole of Uttarakhand and obtaining information about the problems of the cleaning staff. A detailed report on all the problems will be prepared and submitted to the government for their resolution. He said that, in many bodies, scams are being seen in the insurance facility to be given to the cleaning staff, which is being seriously investigated. Strict action will be taken against the guilty officials.
He said he would soon meet the Chief Secretary for a solution to the problems. The Uttarakhand Safai Karamchari Commission will also meet Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and a detailed discussion will be held on the problems of the sanitation workers in the state. He claimed that work is being done under many public welfare schemes for the sanitation workers by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, but due to lack of publicity, the sanitation workers are not getting the benefits. Camps will be organised in all the districts soon so that these can be implemented.
