Dehradun, 25 Jun: A meeting of the Uttarakhand Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, was held at the Secretariat here, today, during which deliberations were held on several important matters. The Cabinet reached a consensus on four significant proposals during the session.
Discussions were held regarding the monsoon session of the Vidhan Sabha. In this regard, the Cabinet authorised the CM to decide both the date and the venue for the monsoon session, thereby empowering him to take the final call on these key organisational aspects.
A prominent decision of the cabinet was the approval of the Uttarakhand Special Education Teachers’ Service Rules, 2025. This follows a Supreme Court judgement issued on 7 March 2025, which directed the state government to streamline the recruitment process for special education teachers. Complying with the directive, the state government had created 135 posts for special education teachers on 20 March 2025. The Cabinet has now approved amendments to facilitate recruitment to these posts, along with the promulgation of the service rules. The move is expected to significantly improve the availability of specialised teaching staff in the state and ensure inclusive educational opportunities for children with special needs.
Additionally, the Cabinet empowered the Panchayati Raj Department to implement the Swachh Bharat Mission (Gramin) Phase III once it commences. A decision was taken to authorise the department from 1 April 2026, furthering the state’s efforts in strengthening rural sanitation and hygiene initiatives.
The fourth proposal brought before the Cabinet was the submission of suggestions and recommendations by the Cabinet Sub-Committee. This sub-committee had been constituted to study and present its findings on the third report submitted by the single-member dedicated commission. The Cabinet reviewed the recommendations and agreed to move forward accordingly.
Another decision taken was the approval for convening the second monsoon session of the Fifth Legislative Assembly of Uttarakhand in 2025. While holding the session itself was approved, the exact dates and location have been left to the discretion of the CM, who will announce these details in due course.
