Dehradun, 21 Jun: The Uttarakhand Cabinet will hold its first meeting after a long gap of 3 months under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, here, tomorrow. The meeting during this period could not be held mainly due to the Model Code of Conduct in force in view of the General Elections. Now that the Parliamentary Elections are over and the Model Code of Conduct has been lifted, the State Cabinet will hold its meeting at the Secretariat tomorrow.

Many important decisions are likely to be taken at this cabinet meeting. Many crucial decisions and proposals are pending approval of the state cabinet for the past 3 months. In view of this, the meeting due to be held tomorrow afternoon is being considered as very important by highly placed sources in the government.

One of the major proposals that is likely to be discussed tomorrow is a decision on holding municipal elections. It may be recalled that the civic elections are already much delayed in the state and the Uttarakhand High Court has also sought an explanation from the government regarding undue delay. The government had promised before the court that the elections would soon be held but they were also delayed in view of the general elections. A decision regarding reservation in the municipal bodies and the wards may be taken at the cabinet meeting.

Some other proposals regarding preparations for the upcoming Monsoon season and the Kanwar Yatra may also be taken tomorrow. The Kanwar Yatra is due to begin next month.

Some financial approvals for projects like Manas Khand scheme and the ongoing Char Dham Yatra may also be granted. On the lines of Uttar Pradesh, the Dhami cabinet may also hold discussion on bringing a scheme of financial aid for marriage of poor girls.

The cabinet may also discuss several announcements made by the CM in recent weeks such as making it mandatory for ‘outsiders’ to declare the purpose of buying land here and also declare criminal cases against them if any.
