International Yoga Day celebrated across U’khand

Dehradun, 21 Jun: The 10th International Yoga Day was celebrated across Uttarakhand with full enthusiasm today. Those who led the Yoga sessions sent a message to the people to adopt Yoga in their daily routine on this occasion. Yoga programmes were held from Dehradun to Uttarkashi and from Kedarnath to Pithoragarh.

In Dehradun, Rishikesh (also called Yoga City) and Haridwar, a large number of Yoga events were held today.

The main state event was held in Adi Kailash in district Pithoragarh this time and was led by Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami. Ministers, MPs, MLAs, various dignitaries and officials performed Yoga exercises today along with the people in different programmes held across the state and sent across a message of adopting Yoga for a healthy lifestyle. Yoga instructors led the various yoga sessions and the Asanas including Kapalbhati, Anulom-Vilom, Pranayama, Vajrasana, Tadasana, Yoga Dhyan and shared with the participants, the benefits of these Asanas.

Along with this, the programme was also organised in 300 Ayushman Arogya Mandirs apart from all the district headquarters of the state. Cabinet Ministers Satpal Maharaj, Subodh Uniyal, Prem Chand Aggarwal, Dhan Singh Rawat, Ganesh Joshi, Saurabh Bahuguna and Rekha Arya inaugurated the Yoga camps at different places in the state. Cabinet Minister Dr Dhan Singh Rawat inaugurated the yoga event by lighting the lamp at Shaheed Jaswant Singh Rawat Ransi Stadium, Pauri. Rekha Arya inaugurated the Yoga programme at International Cricket Stadium in Dehradun, and MLA Kishor Upadhyay on the banks of Tehri Lake.

In Haridwar, on International Yoga Day, a yoga programme was organised by the district administration at Har Ki Pauri, in which a large number of people did yoga. A large number of youth practiced yoga in the yoga camp organised at Jolly Grant and at Triveni Ghat in Rishikesh. People took a pledge to do yoga to stay healthy at Gyaneshwar Mahadev Temple Jolly Grant. A programme was also organised on Yoga Day in Kedarnath. Dr Dhan Singh Rawat said that one yoga instructor will be deployed in each degree college and yoga instructors will also be deployed in 1800 wellness centres of the state. Along with ITBP, police and SDRF personnel also participated in the Yoga Day programme in Badrinath.

India’s Border Police Force ITBP personnel did yoga at skiing destination of Auli. During this, the soldiers also sought information about keeping themselves safe at high altitude through Yoga.
