Dehradun, 26 Apr: The senior students of Doon International School heard speeches on careers in civil aviation by Capt Shweta Singh, Dy Chief Flight Operations Inspector, DGCA; the youngest female pilot Svanika Saxena; and Chief Capt, Crew, Subh Saxena in its campus, here, today.
Capt Shweta Singh, the first woman pilot in India is an avid aviation person and she spoke to the students about her field of work. She reiterated that the job of an airline pilot carried considerable prestige and responsibility and reminded the students that the mental and physical demands were rigorous. She emphasised that the ability to remain unruffled under pressure and having perfect vision, hearing and coordination were crucial requirements of her job. Her motivational talk was very inspiring and informative for the boys and girls. A number of queries were put up by the aspiring students to which she responded enthusiastically.
Present on the occasion were School Chairman DS Mann, Directors Brig Binod Kumar (Retd), Sonika Mann, Gagan Jyot Mann, Principal Hema Thapliyal and Vice Principal Dinesh Bartwal.
