Dehradun, 17 Mar: Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Dr BVRC Purushottam has directed all the District Magistrates to prepare district-wise action plans for the forthcoming Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, likely to be undertaken in Uttarakhand from April. The directions were issued during a review meeting held via video conference with the DMs of the all districts at the Secretariat.

Expressing strong displeasure over the slow pace of voter mapping in certain districts, the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) instructed that notices be issued to Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) where progress has been unsatisfactory. He emphasised the need for a comprehensive and well-structured action plan for both urban and rural areas to ensure timely and efficient completion of the SIR process.

During the meeting, Purushottam informed that around 87 per cent of voters in the State have already been mapped. However, progress in districts such as Dehradun, Udham Singh Nagar and Nainital remains comparatively low. He directed that, particularly in urban areas, officials and staff of municipal corporations be deployed alongside Booth Level Officers (BLOs) to expedite the SIR work. He also instructed that training programmes for BLOs be conducted on a continuous basis to enhance their efficiency and preparedness.

The CEO further directed all the DMs to hold meetings with political parties to ensure 100 per cent appointment of Booth Level Agents at all polling booths prior to the commencement of the SIR. He stressed that all districts must prepare a detailed plan for distribution of enumeration forms so that the process of form distribution can be carried out in a timely manner without any disruption.

Among those present at the meeting were Additional Chief Electoral Officer Vijay Kumar Jogdande, Deputy Chief Electoral Officer Kishan Singh Negi and Assistant Chief Electoral Officer Mastu Das, while the District Magistrates from all the districts participated virtually.
