Tehri, 1 Aug: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami conducted inspection of the disaster-affected area Jakhanyali in Tehri district. He met the families of the deceased in the disaster-affected area and consoled them. He asserted that, in this hour of disaster, the government and administration are standing with the affected. He assured the affected families that the government would provide all possible assistance.
The CM also called upon all the people to support each other at this time of crisis.
Dhami said that the disaster in the area has caused great loss of human lives and loss of animals as well as property. He asserted that safety of people is the first priority of the state government during disasters.
On the occasion, he also directed the District Magistrate, Tehri, to provide immediate relief to the disaster-affected and make all necessary arrangements at the relief camps. The CM also issued instructions to the officials concerned to assess the disaster damage and take up immediate protective measures. To make life normal in the disaster-affected area, instructions have been given to streamline road connectivity, electricity and drinking water supply. The Chief Minister directed the officials to remain in alert mode as per the weather forecast issued by the Meteorological Department.
District Magistrate, Tehri, Mayur Dixit stated that information had been received about a hotel being washed away due to cloudburst near Jakhanyali in Ghansali block of Tehri district late last night. As soon as the information of the incident was received, teams of revenue officials, Police, SDRF, health, road, electricity, etc., departments left for the spot with JCB and ambulance. The electricity supply was cut off for safety reasons and search and rescue operations were launched for the affected persons. Three people of one family died in this incident. The bodies of two people were recovered at night. An injured person died while being taken to the hospital. He said that in the disaster in the area, the culvert connecting Ghansali-Chirbitia motorway in Muyalgaon was washed away, a horse was also washed away, while heavy damage to other assets and property has also been reported.
Cabinet Minister Satpal Maharaj, MLA, Ghansali, Shakti Lal Shah, MLA, Tehri, Kishore Upadhyay, SSP Navneet Singh Bhullar, CDO Dr Abhishek Tripathi were among those present with the CM.
