Dehradun, 1 Sep: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has fulfilled a major promise made regarding Agniveers. The government has issued rules, granting a ten per cent horizontal reservation to demobilised Agniveers in uniformed services across various state departments. Today, the Personnel and Vigilance Department formally issued the “Horizontal Reservation Rules for Demobilised Agniveers in Group C Uniformed Posts in Uttarakhand State Services – 2025”.
This decision of the government is being regarded as a significant and timely step, particularly as Uttarakhand has a large number of soldiers and even Agniveers in the armed forces. The rules issued today provide that demobilised Agniveers will now be entitled to a ten per cent horizontal reservation in uniformed posts across multiple departments. This covers key positions such as Police Constable (Civil/PAC), Sub-Inspector, Platoon Commander PAC, Firefighter, Fire Officer Second, Prison Guard, Deputy Jailer, Forest Guard, Forest Sub-Inspector, Excise Constable, Enforcement Constable, and Secretariat Guard.
Commenting on this development, Chief Minister Dhami observed that former Agniveers who have served the nation are a source of pride for the state. He said that it is the government’s responsibility to provide them with respect and employment opportunities. This decision is a major step towards securing the future of demobilised Agniveers. He added that the government is making every effort to provide employment to ex-servicemen and Agniveers in every possible way.
