CM Dhami describes interim Union Budget as pro-development

Dehradun, 1 Feb: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has praised the interim Union Budget for the year 2024-25 as dynamic and development oriented. The CM was expressing his opinion on the interim budget presented in the Lok Sabha today by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman.

Dhami claimed that under the able leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has presented a dynamic and pro-people budget for the people of India. Congratulating the Union Finance Minister, he said that this interim budget will provide new momentum to India’s ambition of becoming an economic superpower as well as a developed nation by 2047.

Dhami also claimed that the budget is all embracing and that it will play a crucial role in uplift of farmers, women, youth and the underprivileged and will also prove helpful in giving concrete shape to the Prime Minister’s concept of a “self-reliant India”.

The CM added that, along with inclusive development, this budget will also provide new dimensions to various sectors of New India like infrastructure, connectivity, agriculture, women empowerment, health, tourism, thereby giving meaning to the vision of Developed India @2047. The Chief Minister said that, today, the country is undergoing all-round development under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Dhami said due focus has been given to the Rashtriya Gokul Mission to promote farming as well as animal husbandry; the target of Lakhpati Didi Yojana has been increased from two crore beneficiaries to three crores to ensure further empowerment of women.

The CM said that, in the interim budget, special emphasis has also been given to boosting tourism, industry, air connectivity, etc. This will give wings to tourism development in Uttarakhand and will further accelerate the grounding of industrial investment. As per the vision of Prime Minister Modi, the state government is determined to include Uttarakhand among the leading states of the country. This interim budget will be helpful in fulfilling this resolution.

He added that this interim budget is important for the state of Uttarakhand. The state’s share in central taxes has increased in the revised estimates for the year 2023-24 which have been presented today. There was a provision of Rs 11,419.78 crores for Uttarakhand in the financial year 2023-24, which has now been increased to Rs 12,348 crores in the revised estimate. Thus, there is a possibility of getting Rs 928 crores more this year. The state’s share is likely to go up to approximately Rs 13,637 crores in the financial year 2024-25, which will be Rs 2,217 crores more than the original estimate of last year. This is an important gift from the Central Government for the economic development of the state.
