Dehradun, 10 Jul: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami today issued directions for the statewide rollout of ‘Operation Kaalnemi’, a stringent crackdown on fraudsters masquerading as ascetics and deceiving the people under the garb of Sanatan Dharma. Terming such impostors a grave threat to both religious sanctity and social harmony, Dhami affirmed that under no circumstance would such elements be tolerated.

The move comes amidst growing reports from various parts of Uttarakhand of anti-social elements donning religious attire, particularly targeting women, in acts of deception and criminal conduct. The CM also observed that such activities not only erode public trust but also defame the deep-rooted values of Sanatan culture and threaten the communal balance of society.

Drawing a striking parallel from mythology, Dhami likened these offenders to the demon Kaalnemi, who had disguised himself as a sage to mislead others. He remarked that modern-day society is similarly afflicted by such ‘Kaalnemis, who exploit the symbols of piety to perpetrate fraud and wrongdoing.

Reiterating his government’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding the honour of Sanatan Dharma, Dhami declared strong action against those indulging in religious hypocrisy for personal gain, irrespective of their background. He asserted that any attempt to misuse sacred traditions, spread superstition, or manipulate public sentiment would be met with resolute legal consequences.
