Dehradun, 2 May: During a high-level meeting held at the CM’s Official Residence here, today, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami issued strict instructions to officials to ensure stringent action against those violating law and order in the state. He was reviewing the law and order situation, particularly in the wake of the violence in Nainital after a 70-year-old Muslim was arrested for rape of a 12-year-old minor Hindu girl. The CM directed the authorities to take swift action against the criminals involved in the incident. He ordered the district administration in Nainital to provide full security to the victim and her family. During the meeting, Dhami assured the victim’s family of unwavering support on behalf of the government.
The CM further asked the officials to identify and take legal action against individuals spreading misleading information and rumours through social media and other means. He asserted that tampering with Uttarakhand’s land and identity would not be tolerated, warning that strict measures would be taken against any individual or organisation attempting to disrupt the unity of Devbhoomi.
Dhami also stressed the need for heightened vigilance regarding the safety of devotees and tourists. He categorically stated that negligence in security measures would not be accepted. In addition, Dhami directed all the District Magistrates to submit reports within three days detailing actions taken regarding the verification of tenants, street vendors, illegal land grabbers, and those who obtained certificates through fraudulent means.
The meeting was mostly attended in virtual mode by the officials.
