Dehradun, 9 Jul: The School Education Department has directed officials to ensure the timely completion of all construction works being carried out under the Samagra Shiksha programme across the state. Officials have been instructed to complete pending works from previous financial years on priority, while ensuring that newly sanctioned projects are executed within the stipulated timeline. Directions have also been issued to expedite the establishment of virtual classrooms in schools under Samagra Shiksha and the PM SHRI Schools scheme. The School Education Minister, Dr Dhan Singh Rawat, further warned that strict action would be taken against implementing agencies responsible for unnecessary delays in construction works.

Chairing a review meeting of the Samagra Shiksha Project at the Directorate of School Education in Dehradun on Thursday, School Education Minister Dr Dhan Singh Rawat expressed concern over delays in construction activities under the programme. He noted that several projects sanctioned in previous financial years remain incomplete and directed officials to ensure their early completion at both the primary and secondary levels.

The Minister added that a total of 7,803 construction works were sanctioned at the primary and secondary levels between the financial years 2018–19 and 2025–26. Of these, 5,735 projects have been completed, while 1,068 remain pending. He instructed officials to complete both pending and newly sanctioned works within the prescribed timeframe. To ensure effective monitoring, Chief Education Officers of all districts have been directed to submit weekly progress reports on construction works to the Directorate. He also instructed senior officials to submit proposals for action against implementing agencies responsible for undue delays.

Dr Rawat further directed officials to complete the construction of 12 sports complexes, sanctioned during the financial year 2025–26, within the next two weeks.

The Minister also instructed officials to accelerate the installation of 266 digital libraries, 1,203 ICT classrooms sanctioned under Samagra Shiksha and the PM SHRI Schools initiative, as well as 2,320 smart classrooms, so that students can benefit from a modern and high-quality learning environment at the earliest.

The meeting was attended by Director General of School Education Akanksha Konde, Director, SCERT, Vandana Gabryal, Director, Secondary Education, Vinod Kumar Simlti, Director of Primary Education KS Rawat, Deputy Director JP Kala, Deputy State Project Director Pallavi Nain, Ajit Bhandari, Pradyuman Singh Rawat, and other departmental officials.
