Dehradun, 21 Aug: BJP today accused Congress of being incapable of ground‑level politics and of resorting to false complaints and theatrics over the Special Intensive Revision (SIR). BJP State General Secretary Tarun Bansal today addressed the media in this regard where he asserted that just as similar opposition campaigns in Bihar, Assam and Bengal had collapsed once the mandate was delivered, the same will happen in Uttarakhand where only the people, not infiltrators, will decide the government.

Briefing the media at the party headquarters, state general secretary and SIR In‑charge Tarun Bansal said that the process is constitutional and being conducted for the first time under a BJP government with full transparency. He pointed out that earlier revisions were carried out during Congress rule, which perhaps explains their suspicion. He emphasised that notices have been issued across the constituencies due to inconsistencies or human errors but they are not targeting any party or group. Bansal further stated that the Election Commission has clearly laid down procedures for resolving the objections.

The BJP leader alleged that Congress lacks booth‑level workers and organisational strength, which is why it blames others instead of correcting discrepancies. He dismissed claims of large‑scale deletion of names, explaining that the figure of 8.33 lakhs refers to unmapped entries including deceased persons and those who had shifted residence or indicates duplicate registrations. He said the SIR is a constitutional purification process ensuring that every eligible voter retains the right to vote, with Form 6 continuing till the final stage.

He also dismissed the Congress’s allegation that strong booths were selectively affected and called the allegation as totally baseless. He reminded that BJP has a robust booth‑level organisation committed to ensuring no eligible voter is left out. He added that Congress, out of power for a decade, has lost political ground and it now questions constitutional processes instead of accepting the people’s mandate. Stressing on BJP’s commitment to protecting Devbhoomi’s culture and demography, he said the government has enacted strict anti‑conversion laws, implemented the Uniform Civil Code and freed thousands of hectares from illegal encroachments.
