Dehradun, 13 Aug: BJP has termed the measured silence of Congress leaders in the country and Uttarakhand regarding the rape and murder of a woman doctor in Bengal and crimes against women in UP as shameful.
State BJP President and Rajya Sabha MP Mahendra Bhatt today alleged that Congress does not fight for protection of rights and welfare of the women, whether it is inside or outside the party. He claimed that their local leaders who are holding meetings in Delhi with their party high command should remind it to take up these issues.
In a statement issued to the media, Bhatt said, women are not safe in the governments run by Congress or its allies. On the one hand, it is ironic that under the government of a woman Chief Minister in West Bengal, a woman doctor is raped and murdered in the hospital premises. But the Congress remains silent on the issue. In UP, on the other hand, two leaders of a prominent ally of Congress, the SP, are involved in rape incidents. It is very unfortunate that even after the whole of Bengal is getting united demanding a CBI inquiry, the woman Chief Minister is still trying to cover up the crime. Now, understanding the gravity of the matter, the Kolkata High Court has ordered a CBI inquiry.
Bhatt reminded that it is ironic the Congress high command has not yet raised its voice against this heinous crime. The country is once again seeing that neither Rahul’s ‘Mohabbat Wali Dukaan’ nor Priyanka Gandhi, who gave the slogan ‘Ladki Hun Lad Sakti Hun’, were seen speaking on this heinous crime against women. He said that even in UP, it was too much when two members of the Congress and SP were caught committing crimes against girls, and this has led to total silence of the Congress leaders. Congress leaders, who have handed over the command of the youth organisation to the accused of sexual exploitation of their own party leader are maintaining silence over rapes in Ayodhya and Kannauj by SP leaders.
Bhatt targeted the Uttarakhand Congress leaders and suggested that they are participating in the meetings in Delhi with the high command at present but don’t ask their high command for answers on crimes against women in both the states. Bhatt claimed that Congress leaders are masters of spreading lies and confusion in the state on the issue of crimes against women, but they have also become nervous on the true incidents of Bengal and UP. They should put pressure on Rahul and Priyanka Gandhi and to stand in support of women.
