Dehradun, 10 Feb: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami today attacked the Congress and other political parties in the Opposition for using the unemployed youth as political fodder by inciting them to agitate. Speaking informally with media persons at the Secretariat here, today, Dhami claimed that the political parties that had lost their relevance in the country and in the state were trying to regain lost political ground by inciting the youth. The Congress was trying to fire shots by keeping the guns on the shoulders of the youth of the state.

The CM reminded that the government is totally committed to protecting the interests of the youth and the students at any cost. He reminded that it was for this reason, why the state government had cancelled all the competitive examinations in which irregularities were found and ordered reconduct of these exams. Not only this, the government had now approved the very strict ‘Measures for Prevention and Redressal of Unfair Means in Recruitment Ordinance’ without waiting for an Act to be passed in the assembly. This new ordinance would be applicable to all the competitive exams held in the future. It had been forwarded to the Governor for approval after which it would be enforced immediately. Under this, strict provisions have been made for punishment up to life imprisonment and a fine of up to Rs 10 crores on anyone found guilty of unfair means in the competitive examinations. All future competitive examinations would be covered by this. The government is fully committed towards ensuring that all the youth of the state are selected only on the basis of merit and fair testing. He also appealed to the youth not to be unduly influenced by any rumours but focus on preparing for the upcoming examinations. All the future examinations would be held in a transparent and fair manner.

Dhami added that, in order, to avoid inconvenience to the candidates, free travel would be ensured in the buses of Uttarakhand Transport Corporation and the examination fee would also not be charged.
