Haldwani, 16 Sep: Haldwani Police have raided illegal Common Service Centres (CSCs) operating in the Banbhoolpura police station area, sealing eight centres found engaged in irregularities. It is reported that these centres were being run without authorisation and were involved in several unlawful practices, including the alleged preparation of fake documents. The entire matter is under investigation.
SP-City, Haldwani, Prakash Chandra shared with the media that complaints had been received regarding irregularities, poor quality of services, and illegal activities related to document preparation in CSCs. During the inspections, it was found that government documents were being tampered with and forged. Acting on these complaints, Banbhoolpura Station Incharge Sushil Kumar formed five special police teams which launched raids and carried out intensive checking campaigns in different areas.
Police inspected a total of 19 Common Service Centres during the raids. Investigations revealed that several of them were functioning without proper authorisation to run CSCs, while some were found engaged in illegal activities involving the preparation of forged government documents. Records were not properly maintained, and mandatory rate lists were missing in many centres.
At eight centres, police discovered further violations such as absence of CCTV surveillance. Following the raids, police sealed these centres and warned that strict action would be taken against any CSC operator who failed to follow the prescribed norms. CSC operators have been instructed to run their centres strictly as per rules and not to engage in making fake documents.
It may be recalled that Banbhoolpura area has reported several such cases in the past too where CSCs were found involved in preparing illegal documents, and police had acted against them earlier as well. Once again, police have conducted an extensive crackdown under a special campaign, making it clear that such operations will continue in future.
SP City, Haldwani, Prakash Chandra added that some documents have been seized from the Common Service Centres, on which an inquiry report is being prepared. A magistrate has also been included in the investigation. Once the inquiry report is finalised, strict action will be taken against those found guilty.
