CS directs officials to prepare DPRs for restoration work in Joshimath

Dehradun 5 Oct: Chief Secretary Dr SS Sandhu chaired a meeting regarding the works related to disaster risk reduction in Joshimath at the Secretariat here today. He directed the officials of the related departments to immediately prepare DPRs for works like slope stabilisation, restoration of drinking water supply lines, sewage pipelines and for a drainage plan in Joshimath.

Sandhu said that a time frame for each work should be fixed from the preparation of DPRs till till its completion. To ensure that all work is completed on time, weekly monitoring should be done by the secretaries of the departments concerned. He added that he would personally monitor the works fortnightly.

The Chief Secretary said that consultants and experts should be involved to carry out retrofitting work in Joshimath area. He directed the officials to hire the services of the best known consultants and experts of the country for this. Sandhu stressed that, along with completing the work quickly, special attention should be paid towards maintaining the quality of the works. During the discussion on the works to be done on Auli Ropeway, he said that ropeway connectivity is being promoted in the state. For this, he also gave instructions to set up a ropeway cell in the state. On this occasion, Secretaries Arvind Singh Hyanki, Dr Ranjit Kumar Sinha and Dr Pankaj Kumar Pandey, other senior officials, and the District Magistrate, Chamoli, were present through video conferencing.
