CS Raturi directs action against those defaming Yatra, strict health monitoring of pilgrims over 50

Dehradun, 15 May: Chief Secretary Radha Raturi chaired a meeting regarding the Char Dham Yatra at the Secretariat, here, today. During the meeting, she expressed concern over efforts to defame the Yatra and issued directions to the officials to take strict legal action against those who do so, and those who make fake news or videos related to the Yatra.

She clarified that FIRs should be lodged immediately against those who defame the Yatra through fake news or videos. Taking a tough stand on the operation of buses and vehicles without registration and trip card or post-dated registration on the Yatra route, the Chief Secretary also directed the officials to disallow them. She also directed the Transport Department to hold a meeting with the tour operators on the issue of vehicles without registration, without trip card or post-dated registration. Vehicles without registration need to be identified at the check points established at various places and appropriate action taken against them.

She added that she would also be sending a letter to chief secretaries and DGPs of other states in this regard.

Raturi also directed the officials to take immediate appropriate action to resolve any complaint or issues faced by the pilgrims. She also issued strict instructions to the officers concerned to keep their mobiles on 24 hours and receive calls to related to the Yatra.

Raturi added that the in-charge secretary deputed to monitor the Yatra should regularly do so from the Secretariat by coordinating with the respective District Administrations and District Magistrates, etc. With a view to improving crowd management at the Dhams and traffic management along the Yatra route, she asserted that all the necessary facilities like drinking water, toilets and food, etc., at the holding places on the Yatra route should be managed properly and a live telecast of the Char Dhams also ensured. She directed the Rishikesh Municipal Corporation to immediately arrange the best facilities for the pilgrims in their holding places.

She also issued instructions to focus on the health screening of pilgrims above 50 years of age.

The Health Secretary reminded that this time 184 doctors have been deployed on the Yatra route. Among them, 44 are specialists. A Cath Lab has been started in Srinagar Medical College. SOP related to the Yatra has been issued in a total of 11 languages. The Health Department is providing all facilities to the pilgrims, from health checkup to other facilities.

Director General of Police Abhinav Kumar, Principal Secretary RK Sudhanshu, Commissioner, Garhwal, Vinay Shankar Pandey, Secretaries Arvind Hyanki, Sachin Kurve, Dilip Jawalkar were among those present at the meeting.
