Day 6 of Capacity-Building Prog at Doon Varsity sees sessions on Case Studies & Literary Reviews

Dehradun, 12 Jan: Doon University, in collaboration with IIT Roorkee and with sponsorship from ICSSR New Delhi, continued its 12-day capacity-building program with a day dedicated to enhancing the research and teaching capabilities of participants. The sixth day focused on foundational and advanced methods in case studies and literature reviews, providing a blend of theoretical knowledge and practical application.

The morning session, led by Dr Arun Kaushik from IIM Amritsar, explored the fundamentals of case studies and their significance in social sciences, especially in classroom teaching. Dr Kaushik engaged participants in an interactive session that included a dynamic case study discussion. Participants were divided into three groups for hands-on activities, fostering collaboration and critical thinking. Dr Kaushik’s innovative approach involved evaluating the groups’ responses, providing participants with a deeper understanding of the nuances of case-based teaching. In the post-lunch session, course director Dr Sudhanshu Joshi from Doon University, Dehradun, delved into the basics of literature reviews and advanced review techniques. His presentation highlighted various types of literature review. He mentioned databases such as Scopus, ABDC that are relevant to manuscript preparation and offered valuable insights into how reviewers assess scholarly work. Participants gained practical knowledge on incorporating comprehensive literature reviews into their academic manuscripts, enhancing their research quality. The sixth day exemplified the programme’s commitment to equipping participants with essential research methodologies and teaching techniques. He expressed his gratitude to all participants for their active involvement, emphasising the importance of continued learning and collaboration. This capacity-building programme continues to pave the way for academic and professional excellence, fostering a community of researchers ready to tackle contemporary challenges in their fields.
