Dehradun, 24 Sep: Several developments were seen today in the Ankita Bhandari murder case. Most important of them being the recovery of Ankita Bhandari’s body from Chilla Canal where she had been allegedly thrown after murder by Pulkit Arya, Ankit Gupta and Saurabh. The recovery of the body will go a long way in proving the crime committed by Arya, Gupta and Saurabh.
Secondly, in a Friday late last night development, the building of Vanantara Resort was demolished partly by bulldozers on the orders of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami himself. Later in the day today after the recovery of dead body of Ankita, local people set the remaining building of the resort on fire.
In an important development from a political perspective, Pulkit Arya as well as father and senior BJP leader Vinod Arya were expelled from BJP by BJP State President Mahendra Bhatt. In addition, Pulkit Arya’s brother Ankit Arya who was the office bearer in State OBC Commission was also asked to resign from his office. In separate statements, Mahendra Bhatt, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, Speaker Ritu Khanduri and Pauri MP Tirath Singh Rawat asserted that they were shocked over the murder of Ankita and no guilty however influential he may be would be spared at any cost.
In a related development, the Lekhpal of the Laxman Jhula area, who had failed to take serious note of disappearance of Ankita Bhandari as a revenue police official was also suspended. In addition, on the orders of CM, many spa centres and resorts operating in the state were raided in large numbers. As per the official information, 5 resorts operating in Nainital district were sealed today as they were operating illegally.
