Dehradun, 14 Dec: Director General of Police, Abhinav Kumar today directed all the police officers and personnel to remain fully alert and vigilant during the visit of VIPs, dignitaries and senior officers. He said acts of negligence and indiscipline like police personnel on duty not remaining on alert or remaining busy in other activities like watching mobiles, or chatting with each other, or sitting in shops near the place of duty to while away time, would not be tolerated.
Kumar observed that such carelessness during the course of important duty like visits of VIPs is indicative of indiscipline. Such carelessness can lead to lapses in security arrangements. The DGP further observed that even the supervising officers on duty are not paying attention to this.
The DGP also noted that some police personnel are not greeting their senior officers properly, though the police are a disciplined force, adding that this type of action can never be held as appropriate.
The DGP directed all the officers and personnel to comply with the order to perform duties cautiously during the visit of VIPs and to greet the senior officers properly. He warned that, in case of any kind of negligence is found on part of the police personnel in this respect, then disciplinary action would be taken against those concerned and the responsibility of the supervising officer would also be fixed.
