Dehradun, 19 Feb: Expressing happiness over the approval of the Land Law Amendment Bill by the Pushkar Singh Dhami Cabinet today, the BJP has described it as fulfilling another promise made to the public. State BJP President Mahendra Bhatt, while reacting to the development, expressed gratitude to Chief Minister Dhami and said that this concrete step reflects their commitment to the conservation of the land resources and original form of the state.

Bhatt called the approval of the land law by the cabinet as a historic step towards the creation of a strict land law. Bhatt said that the BJP has been committed to the all-round development of the state since its formation, with a focus on maintaining the culture of the state and its original form. The BJP Governments have always made efforts to conserve the limited land wealth and resources of the state, he asserted. Bhatt reminded that understanding the sentiments of the general public and the need of the state, the BJP had resolved to bring a strict land law in the assembly elections. CM Dhami had constituted a high-level committee on this issue as soon as he came to power, which prepared its report after due consultation with all the stakeholders of the state related to this law. All its legal, administrative, and practical aspects have been reviewed in detail. The CM then pledged to present it on the floor of the House during the budget session. Bhatt stated that, today, the Cabinet has approved the Land Law Amendment Bill, and it will now be put up for discussion in the House. It is a matter of great happiness and pride for all the party men that the CM has taken decisive steps towards fulfilling another important promise of the party’s election manifesto.

Bhatt expressed hope that when this strict land law comes into existence after discussion in the House, it will play an important role in protecting the resources, cultural heritage, and rights of the citizens of the state. Accusing Congress of spreading misleading propaganda regarding the land law, Bhatt claimed that the Congress governments have been responsible for the mismanagement of the natural land resources of the state. When Congress came to power, it committed the sin of spoiling the basic form of the state by looting the resources. Now that we have brought an amendment law to solve this problem, they are spreading lies and confusion with the intention of creating obstacles.

Bhatt also appealed to all the MLAs of the opposition to have a positive discussion on this issue inside the House. Instead of making political statements outside, they should join the discussion with solid facts and proper arguments. When this law comes out in its final form, it should satisfy the sentiments of the general public and ensure the protection of the state.
