DEHRADUN, 2 May: Rail connectivity in Uttarakhand continues to strengthen, gradually making travel easier for the people. In this direction, Garhwal MP Anil Baluni has been pursuing demands for new train services in the state with Railway Minister. Now, he has pressed for a direct rail service between Ramnagar and Dehradun.
Baluni had called on Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw earlier this year and had submitted a proposal, stressing on better connectivity of Uttarakhand with other cities of the country is essential to ease travel and boost tourism as well as the local economy. Now Baluni has shared on his social media account, that a direct train service between Ramnagar and Dehradun may begin shortly, which, he says, will particularly benefit passengers travelling between Garhwal and Kumaon, saving both time and effort.
For the Garhwal Lok Sabha constituency, this development marks a major and positive step. Baluni’s efforts are expected to fulfil a long-standing demand for improved rail connectivity. In January, he had met Ashwini Vaishnaw and proposed the introduction of a direct train service between Ramnagar and Dehradun. Baluni shared that the proposal has been approved by the Railway Ministry. Preparations for the operation of this train have been completed and an official announcement in this regard is also expected soon. Alongside this, there is welcome news for residents of the Pirumadara area of Ramnagar, as the Sampark Kranti Express has begun halting there, providing considerable convenience to local passengers.
Baluni stresses that both these decisions would not only address long-pending demands but also open new avenues for tourism, trade and employment. Enhanced connectivity between Kumaon and Garhwal is likely to give a fresh impetus to the overall development of the region. Expressing his greetings to the people, Baluni said he would continue his efforts for the development of the area and for improving public facilities. The introduction of a direct train between Ramnagar and Dehradun is expected to prove a major convenience for rail travellers and a milestone in strengthening Uttarakhand’s transport infrastructure.
